The New York Bandits successfully defended their home turf on Saturday, scoring a 20-16 win over the visiting Empire State Demon Knights in a game that saw them extend to 6-0 on the season. The Demon Knights fell to 4-2.
It wasn't easy for the Bandits, but they did take a 14-0 lead into halftime thanks to a pair of David Ugarte TD passes to Ray Toledo, both on 4th down plays. ESDK came roaring back in the second half, scoring a TD on a fumble return and then on a 4th quarter run that gave them a 16-14 edge. But, on the Bandits final drive of the game, they scored yet again on a 4th and goal situation, this time on a Ugarte keeper that gave them the lead. Then, for the second time in the game, the Bandits kept ESDK out of the endzone from inside the red zone, preserving the win with a 4th down stop.
